1966 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8  Nice Driver

This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 is a terrific driver. Starts, runs, drives very well, transmission shifts smartly, including overdrive.  The wire wheels were replaced by the previous owner with 72-spoke chrome units, and Michelin radials were installed. This makes the ride quite nice. In addition, the front seats were reupholstered in 2023 including new and upgraded foam cushions, so again, it drives and rides great.

If you are not familiar with this era or model of Austin-Healey, it has a cast-iron  290 HP straight-6 engine with dual side draft SU carburetors.  This engine is in very good condition and does not use any oil. The cannister-type oil filter has been upgraded to a spin-on type filter for easier maintenance. The car is equipped with front disc brakes and rear drums. The brake pedal is firm, and the clutch is good as well.

The convertible top was replaced by the PO, and it’s a nice one. It suffered a 3” tear in the top above the drivers door last year, and I have taped that shut.

While I have owned it (since 2022) , the tachometer and fuel gauge have been replaced, a new Texas Cooler radiator fan has been installed, the radiator has been rebuilt and re-cored, and the the fuel tank is new. All the lenses on the running lights and turn signals have been replaced, as have the headlights which were  upgraded to high intensity LED units.

This BJ8 is complete with the original tonneau cover, top boot, and scissor jack with storage bag. It also comes with a good workshop manual. The list of extra parts that come with the car includes: a new wooden frame for the package shelf, new Kilmartin 16 gauge sills already formed and ready to install, and a set of new 16 ga outriggers (4).  Note in the picture of the underside that is attached and look at the yellow circles where they are drawn. This shows the location of the outriggers that should be replaced with the new ones I am providing.
